One thing to remember about ice – it is not always as solid as it looks, even if it is winter! Anthony was on a cub scout outing and he and his friend Thomas were walking on the frozen lake. All of the sudden, Thomas fell into the water and cried for Anthony to help him. Anthony ran to Thomas but knew not to go into the water. Instead, he lay down on the ice and held on to his friend’s arm. At the same time, Anthony yelled HELP as loudly as he could. He kept yelling HELP until the cub scout leader got to the boys and pulled Thomas out of the water. Thomas was dripping wet but he was safe. The cub scout leader thanked Anthony for doing the right things—not going into the water to get Thomas but rather holding onto his arm. Most importantly though—Anthony was praised for yelling for help the minute he saw something wrong.
