The “Yell and Tell” program is aimed at the young child who sees something dangerous, feels afraid and doesn’t know what to do. Many times this child will run away or be quiet because he/she doesn’t want to get into trouble or be called a tattletale. Sometimes a child is so afraid, he/she is too scared to do anything. The “Yell and Tell” program teaches children how to take action and be a hero. Some of the most dangerous situations that this program will cover are: WATER….FIRE…..POISON…..GUNS. When using this program, the leader is encouraged to let children practice Yelling to attract attention. Children learn by repetition so the leader goes over many different dangerous situations and has each child take a turn being the observer and Yelling for help. Squawk, the parrot, is the mascot who shows children how to react.
Money for the “Yell and Tell” program will come from donations across the country and is completely tax deductible. Besides the educational curriculums that Jean has developed, she has written four books about the personal stories of her growing up and the family stories of Harley-Davidson Motor Company. She travels extensively being a speaker at colleges, Harley-Davidson events, and educational forums. When hearing about the new “Yell and Tell” program, people across the country have asked how they may help bring this program to their community. Monies donated from different communities will stay within those communities to bring the “Yell and Tell” program to their children.
Contributions will be used to print program materials and distribute them free of charge to schools, youth groups, camps, and any other organized gatherings of young children.
